The FDA first announced large-scale changes to the sunscreen testing process and labeling regulations in June 2011. The changes were scheduled to take effect this month, but the FDA has delayed their implementation by 6 months or a year, depending on the size of the sunscreen manufacturer. The delay comes as a result of request from sunscreen manufacturers, who were concerned about a shortage of appropriately-labeled sunscreens.
