A Virtual Experience for the Modern Dermatologist

In early March, the 2020 Annual American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Meeting was canceled amid concerns over the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). To meet the educational needs and plenary requirements normally fulfilled by its in-person event, the Academy announced the AAD Virtual Meeting Experience (VMX), set to take place June 12 to June 14, 2020.

AAD VMX 2020 has a packed weekend planned for attendees. The 14 scheduled sessions cover a wide range of hot topics in dermatology, including the therapeutics, management of hidradenitis suppurativa and acne inversa, skin of color, and hair disorders. The speaker lineup features distinguished thought leaders and respected dermatology researchers such as Seemal R. Desai, MD, FAAD; William Damsky, MD, PhD; Susan C. Taylor, MD, FAAD; Adam J. Friedman, MD, FAAD; Joel Gelfand, MD, MSCE, FAAD; and more. In addition to the scientific sessions, a number of late-breaking research abstracts on clinical studies and pediatrics, procedural dermatology, cutaneous oncology and pathology, and clinical trials will be shared.

Also notable in the VMX lineup is a special COVID-19 Town Hall on Saturday morning from 10am to 11am CT. This COVID-19 Town Hall is to help address continuing questions facing dermatologists and their practices during the pandemic. Topics and speakers include:

Attendees will have a chance to virtually explore an Exhibit Hall to see the latest in product offerings. New to the experience is the AAD’s Xtreme VMX Contest. Attendees will have a chance to earn points and badges for taking full advantage of the meeting’s offerings through a number of activities in order to win prizes such as a complimentary membership to the AAD for 2021; a $500 gift card to DermStore; or a 1-year subscription to the AAD’s Dialogues podcast.
